Artistic Team

Gabriel Dubreuil

Gabriel is the Artistic & Executive Director of the Celtic Ensemble , and co-instructs our Junior, Senior and Folkestra programs. Equally at home in a wide array of musical genres, Gabriel is an outstanding violinist who easily moves between the traditional sounds of Québécois and Celtic, to klezmer, classical, jazz - and beyond. Gabriel’s musical path is as varied as it is rich. With a B.Mus from Berklee College of Music, he wears many hats and is a touring bandleader in the folk music world, a recording artist, composer/arranger, and a passionate educator. Gabriel has performed and recorded with major pop and world-music artists from around the world. He is also known as a member of Early Spirit and Collage Trad.

Serena Eades


Serena is our Instructor of Junior & Senior Programs with the Celtic Ensemble. Serena has been teaching music for 26 years and believes in the power of an educator to inspire and guide budding musicians towards excellence and fulfillment through music. Her unique style reflects a lifetime of studying western classical music and various folk idioms. With a B.Mus. from the Berklee College of Music and a B. Mus. from Brandon University in addition to many years in the music industry Serena is at home as a performer, recording artist and educator. She is known as a member of Delhi 2 Dublin and Forró do Cana and has performed with many artists around the world, composed, orchestrated and recorded for film and TV. Serena is founder and director of the Serena Eades Academy of Music which offers violin lessons in North and East Vancouver, the Sunshine Coast and qathet/Powell River.

Danielle Leonard


Danielle is our Director of Novice Programsteaching both our Strings N Things and Intro to Fiddling programs. Danielle has worked as music educator for over 10 years now and her educational pedigree comes in the form of a B.A. in Music and French Studies from Queen’s University, as well as a B.Ed. from the University of British Columbia. Danielle is an experienced performer in various Celtic and Canadian styles and tours across both Canada and the United States. Furthermore, she works with a variety of groups and artists both in the studio and on the road.  Danielle brings with her a great passion for fiddling and a collaborative approach to create a lively and enriching experience with the NSCE.

Emily Dubois

Emily is our amazing Administrative Assistant who helps keep everything rolling smoothly behind the scenes so that our instructors can focus on what they do best - teaching! In addition to keeping everything on track at the Celtic Ensemble, Emily is a musically ambitious fiddler.  Many fiddle camps and the connections they create have nurtured Emily’s passion for collaboration, performance, and teaching young fiddlers. Emily holds a Dip. in Contemporary Music Performance (Victoria Conservatory), and Camosun College Certificate in Arts and Entertainment management (Capilano University)

Caitlin McCracken

Introducing Caitlin, our new Teaching Assistant for the Strings & Things and Intro to Fiddling Programs. With five years of experience in the NSCE Senior Ensemble, Caitlin is deeply rooted in our musical community. Currently studying classical flute at Capilano University, she plans to further her education at UBC after completing her program. When not immersed in flute practice or teaching, Caitlin enjoys playing her second instrument, the fiddle!


The North Shore Celtic Ensemble has a dual mandate: To inspire youth to do more and go further with music, and to use music to build and strengthen community connections. We are a non-profit society and registered charity.
